We arrived at Whiteface Lodge on a snowy November evening just after dusk. Our last 30 minutes or so of the drive were on snow covered backgrounds, winding through the picturesque Adirondack's. Pulling up to the Whiteface Lodge, you are met by a massive timber built lodge. The traditional yet luxurious furnishings found throughout the resort give it such a warm and cozy vibe.
Our room was a suite on the second floor a few doors down the hall from the Resorts main restaurant and bar. It offered a full kitchen, dining room area and living room, complete with a comfy electric fireplace. Off of the living room area was a covered porch to take in the natural beauty that surrounds you. The private bedroom offers a comfortable king size bed, private bathroom and a washer and dryer unit! a true perk you don't expect in any hotel, but definitely one put to good use after a few days of traveling!

The Whiteface Lodge is definitely designed with the family in mind, as the layout and all the amenities offer certainly appeal to all ages, as well as all the different seasons the Adirondack region throws at them. My daughter is like a fish out of water, so our first thoughts on a cold weather trip would not be getting her in a pool, but the Whiteface Lodge has something we've never experienced, an indoor pool that transitions into a year round heated outdoor pool! As mentioned, it was snowing on our drive in, so you can imagine the amazement of being outdid in 80 degree + water surrounding by beautiful snow covered fauna and mountains!
As if the amazing pool isn't enough, we arrived just in time for the opening of the ice-skating rink. Ellie has never been, so this was a memory I won't soon forget, teaching her to glide around the ice. I think Ellie's favorite part was being able to retreat to the Yurt for some complimentary hot chocolate to warm up :)
It seemed like the resort has thought of everything. Our first evening as we retreated from the cold after a long swim, we stumbled across one of the Great fireplaces in the Clubhouse lit, with a full supply of S'mores goodies! We learned that pending good weather this was available every night either outside by the skating rink or in the clubhouse. What better way to warm together than with S'mores?!
As for the food at Whiteface, it exceeds expectations big time! As if the ambiance of Kanu isn't enough, with its great fireplaces and its prize Deer and Moose hanging from their respective fireplaces, the food is delicious. We enjoyed dinner one evening in Kanu and the service as well as food are top notch! We enjoyed the breakfast buffet both mornings as well, and the options were very extensive and quite delicious for a buffet! Offering several hot options that changed daily such as bacon, sausage, french toast, pancakes, pastries, and an array of yogurts, cereals, fruits, and other treats, the buffet has something for everyone.
Overall, the Whiteface Lodge truly offers for something every age and any type of traveler. Whether you want to go out and adventure the hiking trails that start right form the lodge itself, or sit-back and be pampered by the pool, or anything in between, the Whiteface Lodge will put your mind at ease, and help you enjoy the Adirondack's beauty. We really hope to return soon to the Whiteface Lodge, and next time with our loved ones. If you are considering a visit, do yourself a favor and go, without question, everyone should experience this little gem.
We really want to thank the Whiteface Lodge for hosting us on this stay, but would like to remind you that all opinions are my own :)
