St. Lucia, a beautiful, emerald green island is part of the lesser Antilles in the eastern Caribbean. Known for its iconic twin peak Pitons, St. Lucia is filled with beauty both on land, but especially in it's seas. Here's some of my must see's in St. Lucia.
Anse Mamin Beach
a beautiful black and dark sand beach which is a 10-minute walk from the more popular Anse Chastanet through some plantation ruins on a well marked path is worth the walk. A less popular beach with some amazing snorkeling right off the beach, especially near the rocks seen above.
the Sulfur SPrings
Located with in the Piton's World Heritage Site (accredited by United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization or UNESCO) this realm of the senses is a true reminder of the islands volcanic activity, but one to see! Yes you will smell the "rotten egg-y smell of the sulfur", but the sulfur bath and silky smooth skin you get afterwards are worth it!
Pigeon Island
Contrary to its name, Pigeon Island is no longer an island. the island was artificially joined to the western coast of mainland in 1972 by a man-made causeway built from dirt excavated to form the Rodney Bay Marina. Pigeon Island is a historic site with numerous forts such as a British Fort and Fort Rodney which were used to spy on the French ships in neighboring Martinique.
These are just a few of St. Lucia's wonderful areas to explore. The snorkeling all over the island is amazing, I couldn't pick just one area to feature as there are many. Also I didn't bother giving a ton of information on the Piton's as they are the most famous attraction to St. Lucia and plenty of info is abailable about them! Please feel free to share any of your St. Lucia spots in the comments ! :)
